From power to space and luxury, Jeep's newest full-size does a stellar job of covering all of its bases.

After a long hiatus of close to three decades, Jeep is finally offering the all-new fourth generation of the Wagoneer as of 2022. Available for sale at a base MSRP of $58,995, the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer comes in nine trim configurations and is here to compete with the likes of Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, and Nissan Armada. Being a full-size SUV, it offers excellent interior space and a luxurious cabin, making it a choice that is hard to reject for family buyers.

The naturally aspirated V8 engine comes under the hood of the 2022 Wagoneer and there is a 48-volt mild hybrid system as well. The top-notch towing capacity and the capable 4WD drivetrain make it very versatile on any road. The macho design language makes it very handsome and the long list of exterior features helps the Wagoneer to stay a notch higher than some of its rivals in terms of design appeal. If you are planning to get the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer, here are ten things you need to know.

Coming with most of the features as standard even with the lower trims such as the Series I and Series I Premium, the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer is going to impress many prospective buyers. The interior of the base trim comes with leather-trimmed upholstery, heated and powered seats, split second and third-row seats, and an Uconnect infotainment system.

Go up the trim ladder, and you are looking at even more techs and features as standard. Some of the top-spec trims get a rear seat entertainment system, panoramic sunroof, and more premium materials all around. The same is also the case with the safety and driver-assistance techs and exterior design features on offer.

Being a family SUV, the interior has to be both luxurious and comfortable. Thankfully, the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer is one of the most perfect propositions in this regard. The dashboard and door cards get leather inserts with stitching, open-pore wood, soft-touch injection molded plastics, and aluminum switchgear.

All of these add to the premiumness of the cabin and that helps it to compete well with fierce competitors such as the Nissan Armada and Chevrolet Tahoe. The long list of standard comfort features on offer and the airy cabin feel due to the light color palettes inside also gives it a very luxurious vibe.

If you expect the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer to be a value-for-money proposition like some of the other offerings from the Jeep stable, you are mistaken. The base price tag of $58,995 makes it more expensive than GMC Yukon, Nissan Armada, Chevrolet Tahoe, and Ford Expedition. All these rivals are cheaper by about $7,000, which is quite a lot.

Even though the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer comes with more features, better performance, and superior off-road and towing ability, it still doesn't come forward as a value-for-money offering for the folks who want a comfortable family cruiser. The optional features and packages are a bit steep in pricing than these rivals too.

The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer offers a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 lbs if you get the optional heavy-duty trailer tow package. Being a $1,496 option, the towing capacity increases from $8,790 lbs to 10,000 lbs due to the inclusion of electronic rear limited-slip differential, heavy-duty engine cooling, and locking in-vehicle safe.

Along with that, this optional package also offers more relevant towing techs such as trailer brake control, trailer-hitch line-up assist, and trailer hitch zoom. The 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine offers impressive performance numbers and the 8-speed torque converter automatic has electronic range control with tow/haul mode.

The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer comes with the 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine producing 392 hp and 404 lb-ft of torque. The 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission is standard and the Wagoneer gets the RWD or 4WD drivetrain depending on the trim you opt for.

The 0-60 mph comes in 6.7 seconds, and it has a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 lbs. Even with a heavy curb weight and massive exterior dimensions, it still comes out as one of the fastest offerings in the full-size SUV segment. Both the GMC Yukon and Chevrolet have a 0-60 mph time of 7.1 seconds. However, the Ford Expedition is a bit faster.

Coming with a naturally aspirated V8 engine under the hood along with a heavy curb weight, the fuel efficiency is one of the few things that will disappoint many. This full-size SUV offers a subpar 16 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway.

The combined gas mileage of 18 MPG is worse than the likes of GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Tahoe. In comparison, the Ford Expedition with its twin-turbo V6 offers the best in class combined gas mileage of 20 MPG. With a fuel tank capacity of 26.5-gallon, the highway range of 583 miles is decent for the segment.

The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer comes in 7-seater or 8-seater configurations depending on the trim. The higher trims get the captain's chair for the middle row and that makes it quite a comfortable family cruiser. The front row and middle row has one of the best overall interior space and there are more than enough storage spaces inside the cabin.

The tri-pane sunroof brings in a lot of light to the cabin as well. When it comes to the third row, the 2022 Wagoneer offers 39" of headroom and 36.6" of legroom, making it one of the most spacious third-row in the full-size SUV segment. The 27.4 cu ft of cargo capacity is exceptional too.

The Uconnect 5 touchscreen infotainment system comes with the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and is one of the best systems out there. The 10.1" infotainment screen and the 10.3" digital gauge cluster also display all the relevant information and the interface is as smooth as the other offerings from the Stellantis group.

There is an optional 10.3" screen for the front seat passenger and the rear seat entertainment group offers Amazon Fire TV, a 10.1" rear entertainment screen, and video USB for the rear seat passengers. All the other features such as Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM radio, navigation, Bluetooth, and voice recognition are onboard too.

The standard driver-assistance features include active lane management, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision monitoring, automated emergency braking, ParkView rear backup camera, and rear parking sensors. Get the optional convenience package, and you can get even more bells and whistles.

All the basic safety features such as ABS, traction control, stability control, brake assist, tire pressure monitoring system, and electric parking brakes are onboard too. The 2022 Wagoneer has high-tensile steel and aluminum construction. However, it hasn't been crash-tested yet.

Warranty coverage is one of the factors that makes or breaks a car purchase decision, especially for family buyers. When it comes to the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer, the warranty coverage feels just about adequate and is nowhere as impressive as what the Hyundai or Kia has to offer.

The limited warranty is 3 years or 36,000 miles and the powertrain warranty is for 5 years or 60,000 miles, both of which aren't as good as some of the rivals. However, the complimentary maintenance coverage for 3 years is good to have. When it comes to recalls and complaints, the 2022 Wagoneer received 3 recalls and 22 customer complaints according to the NHTSA.
