Professional Tool Reviews for Pros

Ryobi has one of the deepest lines of cordless power tools in the biz, and it just seems to keep getting deeper. Their product line is wrapping up the fall and winter as we look forward to 2020, which should sound like good news to anyone already on the One+ battery platform. For those of you who aren’t yet, these new Ryobi tools make a pretty compelling case for why you should consider buying into this platform. Available exclusively from Home Depot, the Ryobi stable of cordless tools is now over 100 tools strong and growing.

You’ll never have to worry too much about running out of power with Ryobi’s Air Cannon. It runs on the One+ 18V battery platform when you don’t have easy access to an outlet, and 120V AC when you do. It features 3 speeds and a 220° rotating head so that you can focus the airflow where you really need it.

We’ve actually been using the Ryobi Air Cannon around the office for a few months now, and we can attest to its ability to really move some air around. You can read all about it here.

Ryobi is finally releasing a much-anticipated cordless band saw later this month. The 18V One+ Band Saw is ideal for wood, metal, and plastic cutting applications with its 2.5″ cut capacity. It can run at over 575 surface feet per minute, and it features adjustable blade tracking and easy blade changes.

An integrated pommel handle makes the saw more comfortable and manageable. Plus, an LED light keeps you from ever having to cut in the dark.

The Ryobi P590 18V Band Saw comes with two 32-7/8″, 18 TPI blades and a three-year warranty. You’ll be able to pick this up as a bare tool for $129 from Home Depot.

Look for the 18V High-Pressure Inflator to hit your local Home Depot in November. This tool is designed to work with tires and other small inflatables ranging from 0-150 PSI. Given its small size, and because it runs on 18V One+, fitting into tighter spaces or corners won’t be too problematic.

The 18V High-Pressure Inflator features a large diameter piston for faster inflation. A digital screen gives you a precise and visible readout. It comes with a 20″ hose and a storage compartment for the needle and nozzle. Without a battery, this tool only weighs in at 1.35 lbs.

If you like the idea of the previous cordless inflator, but feel like you need a tool that deflates also, well, you’re in luck. The 18V Dual Function Inflator/Deflator does just that. It can handle high-volume and high-pressure applications. It even has an automatic shutoff switch for hands-free inflation. A deflation feature lets you actively pull air out quickly and easily.

The Dual Function Inflator/Deflator features a high-visibility digital readout and an operating range between 0-150 psi. It weighs in at 2.9 lbs, and with the 18V One+ 4Ah Lithium+ HP battery, it can inflate up to 10 tires on a charge. To get a handle on how quickly this inflator gets to work, you can inflate a twin-sized air mattress in 30 seconds.

Look for this tool to hit Home Depot’s shelves in December of this year. It will run you just under $50.

Spills are one of the inevitabilities of life, but with the Ryobi Portable Surface Dryer, you don’t have to keep walking around in it. Instead, you can plop down the ol’ Ryobi Hybrid Surface Dryer and get your messes dried out before you slip and fall.

This fan features 360° air movement to get your floors to turn from wet to dry in minutes. It even has straps to hold your standard Wet Floor signs in place. The surface dryer will run for up to 22 hours on a 9Ah battery charge. However, since it has hybrid power capabilities, you can plug it into an extension cord as well. It features two speeds: high for fast drying and low for quiet operation and extended runtime.

Ryobi tells us that the 18V Hybrid Portable Surface Dryer will be available this October and will sell for $99 at your Home Depot.

Some of the new Ryobi tools are coming as part of a slew of combo kits in the next few months, making getting into the already exceptionally deep One+ platform even more affordable. This fall, Ryobi will release a couple of 2-piece combo kits, a 4-piece combo kit, and a 6-piece combo kit. These combo kits range from $129 to $299 and will be available exclusively from Home Depot.

I just love Ryobi tools. I’ve been a fan ever since my wife bought me my first drill and driver in my collection when I needed to fix the very first honey do list thing after we moved in together. I’m SOO glad that the home depot salesman convinced her to buy it for me! #Ryobi

Your Ryobi worklight specs are wrong. You list 1600 lumens (I wish!) when it’s a measly 160 lumens. Ryobi still misses the mark with their inflators. They need something at least triple the CFM @ PSI, and no I do not mean let’s get their air compressor instead. I mean for tire inflation, there is no reason we should have to wait several minutes to merely get a tire inflated when $10 worth of motor and $5 worth of piston would be quite welcome, AND make it overheat less so it is a longer lasting tool. Pretty ridiculous when tools…  Read more »

I love Ryobi tools and particularly the 18V platform. They are typically not the most robust (more in terms of shell materials and ability to drop without damage), and they are not the most powerful, but they have SO many useful, unique, and affordable tools that they would be my number one recommendation for a homeowner. And they are typically powerful enough — if I were using them repetitively all day I might want something faster to maximize productivity, but for my uses, how fast an impact spins really doesn’t matter, as long as the fastener gets in eventually.
