SLINGERLANDS – Bethlehem police arrested a local man on Tuesday, Sept. 27 after an investigation into damage he caused at the Speedway on New Scotland Avenue.

On Thursday, Sept. 6, Chet A. Deleo, 35, of Slingerlands, entered the gas station to request a $2 refund because the tire inflator malfunctioned and took his money. The manager of the store told him he would be refunded the money and Deleo left the store only to return a short time later saying the same machine took $2 a few days earlier. When the manager explained that he could not give refunds for past day’s losses, Deleo became angry and allegedly punched various items near the checkout and broke one of the $862 Ipad checkouts and left the store.

After an investigation, Bethlehem police filed for and received an arrest warrant for Deleo and he could be identified by officers in the department from previous incidents at his residence.

Deleo turned himself in at the police station and was charged with criminal mischief, a felony, and harassment, a violation. He was arraigned in front of Bethlehem Town Judge Andrew Kirby and released on his own recognizance. Deleo is scheduled to return to court on Monday, Oct. 17.   

VOORHEESVILLE – On Monday, Sept. 19, at about 2:50 a.m.  State Police responded to the report of a domestic dispute in Voorheesville.  While en route to the complaint, Troopers were advised one of the parties involved had left in a vehicle.  They located the vehicle on Maple Road and performed a traffic stop.  The operator was identified as a 30-year-old Voorheesville man.  During the interview of the operator, Troopers observed signs of impairment.  Roadside sobriety testing was conducted, which he failed.  The man was arrested for DWI – drugs and found to possess drugs.

He was brought to SP Guilderland for processing, where a Drug Recognition Expert evaluated him and he provided a blood sample.  The man was issued tickets returnable to the New Scotland Town Court on Thursday, Oct. 6.  He was then turned over to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office for pending charges related to the original dispute.

ALBANY – State Police arrested Christopher B. Cruz, 20, of Selkirk for possession of a forged instrument, a felony, and aggravated DWI.

On Tuesday, Sept 27 at about 10:06 p.m., Troopers stopped a vehicle on Interstate 787 in the city of Albany, NY, for a moving violation. During the interview, Troopers identified Cruz as the operator.  Cruz was subsequently arrested for DWI. He was found to possess forged U.S. currency.

Cruz was transported to SP Latham for processing, where he provided a breath sample that returned a 0.27 percent BAC. He was given an appearance ticket and released. Cruz is scheduled to appear before the Albany City Court on Friday, Oct 7.
